In English we say "I eat rice." The word rice is the thing we are acting on.
In Japanese, you mark that thing with the particle を (pronounced "o").
• ごはんをたべます。 — I eat rice.
• コーヒーをのみます。 — I drink coffee.
Put the thing first, then を, then the verb.
Japanese verbs come at the end of the sentence.
Pattern: [noun]を [verb]ます。
• 〜ます — I do it (positive)
• 〜ますか? — Do you…? (question — just add か)
• 〜ません — I don't (negative)

Same ending, but a totally different feeling — it's a warm offer, not a "no"!
